Illustrator Link palette

• All images should be embedded in the document, not linked to it.
• Go to Windows > Links and examine the list of images. They should all have a small icon on the right side of the window, showing that they have been embedded.
• If there is no icon on the right, click on the image name to select it, then click on the triangle on the right hand side of the window..
• When the pop-up menu appears, choose Embed Image.

Color Swatch palette

• If the swatches palette is not visible, activate it by choosing Windows > Swatches.
• Click on the first color square, then shift-click on the last color square, selecting them all.

Swatch Options

• Double-click on any color square, opening the Swatch Options dialog box.
• Set Color Type to Process Color, checkmark Global, and set the Color Mode to CMYK.
• Click OK

Fonts to Outlines

• Choose Edit > Select All. Choose Type > Create Outlines.
• This converts all type into outlines and eliminates the need to send fonts along with the document.
• If you make any subsequent changes to the document, choose Type > Find Font.
• Fonts listed have not been converted to outlines.
• Please repeat the step above to ensure all fonts are outlined before submitting your ad.

Save as

• Choose File > Save As and select the Illustrator EPS (EPS) format.
• Click Save.

EPS Format Options

• In the EPS Format Options dialog box, set Compatibility to Version 8.0.
• Set the Preview Format to Macintosh (8-bit color).
• Include Linked Files should be grayed out, indicating you have embedded all images.
• Checkmark Include Document Thumbnails.
• There's no need to checkmark Include Document Fonts because they have already been converted to outlines.
• Checkmark CMYK PostScript, and set PostScript to Level 2.
• If your document makes use of transparency (Illustrator 9), click Preserve Appearance in the Transparency section.
• Click OK and the job is complete.
